Welcome to Buckingham Parish Church

St Peter & St Paul - the Church of England in Buckingham.

We want people to feel welcome when they come along and that's why we offer different types of services to meet different needs and styles. As well as the more traditional services, we also have a lively, informal All Age Service at 10am on the first Sunday of each month and an alternative style service called Ignite on most Sunday evenings. See the services page for details of the different services.

We have a Welcome Group, which welcomes the new and the not so new people and makes them feel at home. We are very aware that coming through the door of a church can be a daunting experience for many. We try to be sensitive to those who feel, perhaps, that they would like anonymity; a place of solace or reflection; a place just to be... as well as to those who are new to the area and may like to get more involved at some stage.

We also offer ways in which people can learn about the Christian faith (e.g. Alpha courses) and a number of House Groups enable the members to discuss the Bible, their faith and their questions. See the Church Life section for more details.

We feel it is important to encourage people to feel at home within our Church building, and the monthly Tuesday Market Day Lunch and weekly Café Ignite on Saturday mornings have proven to be a huge success. We also offer a variety of groups and activities for toddlers, children, young people and men and women of all ages.

Here the gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed and the sacraments of his one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church are celebrated according to the custom of the Church of England. The Church of England teaches and practices the faith brought to this land in 597 AD by St. Augustine and by his predecessors, but in a variety of both traditional and modern styles. The Eucharist, the service our Lord himself gave us, is regularly celebrated here in a number of different ways, and the Holy Communion of Christ's body and blood is received.

Do come along and make yourself known to us, we'd love to meet you!

Way Forward Statement

As the people of God worshipping in this place, we have decided after prayer, discussion and seeking God's will that we want to be a Church:

  • where everyone feels that they are accepted, where everyone is valued and loved and can take part in the life of the church family.
  • which is growing, reaching new people with the good news of Jesus Christ and drawing them into God's family.
  • where everyone can grow spiritually.
  • which serves the community.
  • Our 'Building Blocks' are:

  • work with children and young people;
  • serving the community;
  • nurturing faith;
  • outreach;
  • greater lay involvement in ministry.
