Church Choir
Buckingham has a long-standing choral tradition that spans back to the rebuilding of the church in the 1780s and is recruiting singers in all parts: treble/soprano, alto, tenor or bass. A bursary is paid to choristers and scholarships are available to experienced sixth form and university students. The choir sings quality sacred music from the 9th to the 21st centuries and has a vibrant social focus that culminates in an annual dinner and occasional visits.
The life of a chorister is fun and rewarding. We are all committed to achieving the best use of good music in worship whatever the resources, whatever the styles. Through education, training and encouragement, we aim to support church music today and to invest in church music for the future, giving young choristers valuable experience in music from an early stage. There's something for everyone to feel part of in belonging to music making, and in the sharing of these skills throughout the Christian Calendar.
Please do not hesitate to contact Choirmaster Robert Tucker if you would like to try out the choir or phone the church office (01280 821509).
Music Groups
There are a number of Musical Groups including a junior band which help to lead the services. They consist of instrumentalists and singers and have varied memberships from 10 years of age upwards, and cater for people with a musical background, and for those wishing to learn.
All instrumentalists and singers are welcome, currently the groups use guitars, flutes, recorders, trumpets, clarinets, saxophones, keyboard and drums. The groups lead the all age worship service on the first Sunday of the month (10am) and the evening Ignite Services and sometimes join the choir for other services.
Junior band practices are on Fridays early evening and some Sunday mornings in church. Other practices are arranged by the members of the groups. Contact Ray or Tina Mitchell (01280 814544) or Andy Hamilton (01327 359747) who will introduce you to the other musicians.
Bell Ringers
